Kurobuchi Shishimai is a shishimai (lion dance) for the repulsion of evil spirits. It has three numbers: namely, the Sword Dance, House-Entrance Dance, and Creeping Dance (or living-room dance). On January 3, the shishimai season is opened with a dance of divine offerings at Yasaka Shrine. The House-Entrance Dance is performed on August 13 in the evening to visit all the houses of the community.
