Maegō Shishiko Dance

The Maegō Shishiko Dance is performed as an offering at the annual festival of Hie Shrine. Each of the three lion cubs (shishiko) is performed by one person. The red cub is female and blue and black cubs are male. The performers put the small lion heads on, hold a drum at the waist, and jump up and down energetically.
