Memeki Bayashi is dance and music performed as an offering at the annual evening festival of Takao Shrine at Memeki. A scaffold is set up on the premises of the shrine, around which people dance in a white kimono with a red skirt (hakama) and a fan. It was started in the old days when farmers learned a kind of okoto dance and performed it to pray for bumper crops.
