The Nakadate Bangaku is performed every year alternately by the communities of Nakazawa and Tatemura. According to the legends, its origin goes back further than the Edo era (17th–19th century). Hunters from Nekko (former Ani Town) came here to sell hides and bears’ gall (a medicinal substance) and taught the villagers this bangaku. For this reason, Nakadate Bangaku is close to Nekko Bangaku.
