The Ōnaori Ōdaiko (Onaori Big Drums) festival is said to have been started by the samurais who returned from the Summer Campaign of Osaka in 1615. For this reason, it is believed that one of the purposes of the festival is to appease the spirits of the war dead. After the performance is offered at Yama Shrine, it is performed also at Entsūji Temple, after which the performers go around to visit communities in the area.
