Daishōji Okesa is one of the variants of Haiya Music, which was born in Tasuke (in present-day Nagasaki Prefecture) and was propagated all over Japan. As to the route of transmission to Daishōji, one theory says it came up Omono River from Tsuchizaki Port (Akita City), but another theory claims that it was brought here from Ishiwaki Port (Yurihonjo City) via Kameda territory. The present form of Daishōji Okesa is what was revived and partially invented in 1985.
