Fukuda Shishimai (Fukuda Lion Dance) was derived from Honkai Shishimai and Bangaku. There is a record that it was brought here in 1847 from Momoyake (former Chokai Town) via Nakazawa (former Nishime Town). The performance is mostly for the shishimai’s visits to individual houses a little after the new year’s days and on the day of Obon in August. From the household where the lion head is kept, the performers make a procession to the shrine and other places.
