Villagers of Yamada learned the lion dance from the neighboring village of Hataya in 1895. As it resembles Kamagadai Bangaku, there were probably some relations with Kamagadai as well. The performance starts at the house of the lion head’s keeper, a role that passes down from father to son for generations.
