Kamasaka is in the former Nangai Village in Daisen City, near Daishōji in Akita City. Aiya (or Haiya) music was born in Nagasaki, propagated northward along the coasts of the Sea of Japan, reached Tsuchizaki Port, reached the port town of Daishōji, and then brought to Kamasaka to become Nangai Kamasa Okesa. It is similar to Daishōji Okesa in many ways.
