According to a local elderly who is well versed in local history, when General Tamura visited this village during his northern campaign, he had an auspicious dream of the god Hachiman. In the dream, a golden falcon flying high in the sky came down and perched on a tree on this land. General Tamura built a shrine here and enshrined the deity in 791. It is said that the kagura dance was brought here from Ise for performing in the presence of Lord Satake (of Akita Domain). The lion dance here is performed by two people for one lion and belongs to the school of Ise Kagura.
