The bangaku at Hajikamisawa is performed every year only on August 14. As it is an Obon day, its performance is considered to appease the spirits of the ancestors. On that day, the lion dance is performed in front of the altar in the house where the lion head is kept through the year. The lion performers then go around the community to perform the dance in individual houses. Music is played with drums, Japanese flutes, and hand gongs.
