Tamura Bayashi was started in 1957 by creating a new dance with the elements of Bon dance music in Saisai Bayashi performances of nearby communities. Even though it is said to be a new creation, the difference from the Bon dances in the nearby communities is hardly discernable. The music is performed for a kashima-okuri festival, where a large straw Buddha statue parades around the community.
