At Omachi in Noshiro City, drum music is performed at Yaku-Tanabata, a kind of Neburi-Nagashi type of ritual to wash away evil spirits. When Sakanoue-Tamuramaro fought against the barbarians, he put lanterns on the water of Yoneshiro River. This episode is said to be the beginning of Yaku-Tanabata here. The music has only two numbers. One is the marching music that accompanies the lantern float going around the community. The other is Nagashi (washing away) music, played when the lantern is put into water.
