Shinden Shishimai (Shinden Lion Dance) is believed to have been a variant of the school of Honkai Shishimai. There was also a mochi-making dance that replicates the gestures of making rice cake by pounding steamed rice. Only the shishimai (lion dance) has been passed down to modern times; it was interrupted right after the Second World War but was revived in 1976.
