The Karame-Bushi Kanayama-Dance was originally a dance of prayer for the safety and development of the Osarizawa Mine (one of the major mines in the area, which has been in operation since the Edo era). It is now danced at the annual festival of Ryōshasan Shrine as an offering to the deity of the mountains.
